Independent school selects DRU heating solution

Ryleys school in Cheshire makes an educated choice

The Ryleys School is an independent school for boys from ages 4 – 13. Founded in 1871, it is situated in the town of Alderley Edge, near Manchester.

The school occupies a large site on the outskirts of town with a mixture of both historic and modern buildings. Heating a complex such as this was a tricky problem for the governors. The school needed a solution that was comfortable for staff and pupils, but with economy and flexibility .

The solution was balanced flue gas wall heaters from Drugasar. These draw air from outside the building for combustion, also expelling waste gases to the outside. This means that there is no loss of air within the classrooms, resulting in a warm and safe environment for learning.

Flexibility is another major benefit. Unlike a ‘wet’ central heating system, individual heaters can be turned on and off as required to suit a changing timetable. It is also possible to warm a classroom up quickly when it is about to be used. And because heaters are only turned on when rooms are in use there is no waste of energy resources.

The Ryleys School has used Drugasar heaters as its main source of heating for many years. Recently the school had a number of older models replaced with new ‘Art’ series heaters, which operate at over 80% efficiency.
