DRU heaters used in major church refurbishment project

DRU gas wall heaters have been deployed as part of a £1m church refurbishment project in Birkenhead.

Wirral Christian Centre has been active on the Wirral since 1973, running a Christian community centre with child day care facilities.

It needed a larger church to accommodate its growing congregation. It recently acquired a derelict church just across the road.

Under the direction of Rev Paul Epton, the building has been restored and can now accommodate 500 people.

The project, which was completed in just over a year, included a new roof; a complete new vaulted timber ceiling and magnificent new digitally restored stained glass windows.

DRU Kamara powered flue models, which are used in the main church, have heat outputs of 16 kW, sufficient for the very largest enclosed spaces.

They only need to be turned on about 2 hours before the church is used. They are quiet and safe to operate, with cool-touch casings.

DRU Kamara heaters can be controlled manually or connected to a central time switch. They are also compatible with both natural gas and LPG.

In the offices, DRU has specified Style balanced flue gas heaters, which combine natural convection with a stylish appearance.

The project was carried out by DRU approved gas heating engineers, part of a national network of qualified installers.
